Lady Christine Angel of Montego Bay

May of 2019, I attended The Mr. Smooth Cruise. We ported out of New Orleans and our first stop was Montego Bay, Jamaica, where I performed my songs "Brand New" and "Please Believe Me" at Margaritaville.

Montego Bay, the capital of Saint James Parish, has a large urban population, and of course many street performers attracted by the many tourists. One of the street performers, a dark thin older Jamaican woman, dressed in a shabby but clean coordinated red and white checkered jacket and dress, came prancing by with a collection of apples, mangos, pineapples, bananas and papaya on top of her head.

She danced and jigged for attention vital for her survival. After my performance, I grabbed some Rum Cream from a local store then jumped in a Taxi by a young driver who insisted he take me back to the ship. As I got in the back of the car, the fruit lady was in front of the restaurant doing her dance for the new arriving tourists.

“That lady is quite the character,” I offered jovially. In a reverent tone, he replied,

"That's Christine, she's been out here for years and has helped to take care of me and many other of us youngsters out here on the street.”

She instantly became an angel to me. This painting was inspired by her heart to ennoble her spirit and for All the angels who walk amongst us that we often overlook.
